The Lewinsville is a 143 unit garden apartment complex in McLean, Virginia, sponsored by The Lewinsville Retirement Residence, Inc., a non-profit corporation affiliated with the Lewinsville Presbyterian Church. This community offers apartment units designed to meet the needs of the elderly. The Lewinsville is a federally assisted project under the Section 8 program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Applicants for admission to The Lewinsville must meet the following requirements: head of household must be at least 62 years of age; gross annual income must be within limits set by HUD; must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen; and, must commit to living in a smoke free property. Persons are eligible for admission without regard to racial, ethnic, or religious background.
Section 8 assistance is available to qualified low and moderate income residents to enable them to rent apartments at approximately 30% of their adjusted household income. Rent includes heat, AC, electricity and water. To qualify for rental assistance, HUD has established annual income limits and verification requirements.
